The clattering of the machines tended to irritate the operators after a certain point.  They weren't always busy shooting out reams of paper of course, just quite often.  But she was used to their quirks and the racket they inevitably produced.  It was all part of her design, though to her fine ears it was far from racket.  That's a bare faced lie if I've ever told one She grabbed a message from one of the aggressively chuttering printers.  Nothing more exciting then a weather brief.

Sighing, she dutifully carried the report over to a messenger for its proper dispatch into the ship.  Maybe someday a more interesting message would come over the wire.  Monsters crawling out of the lakes into Hamilton, global thermonuclear war even.  Not that she'd have much to do after that, maybe enough time to smoke a last cigarette or two out on the weather deck.  Such was the life of a sailor.

There was the sea though, nothing could be said about poorly of her.  Sure she was vicious, a harsh mistress who liked to send her adherent tumbling across the compartment, but that was her very nature.  Dash 3'd accepted that long ago, when she'd first set foot on a fighting ship there had been no question as to what career she would follow.  Now the Lakes weren't precisely a choice assignment, but it was one that could be tolerated until they set sail beyond the St. Lawrence once more.

It wouldn't be long, she reflected, not long at all.

Another teletype was busy grinding out a message, edging close to take a look she was disappointed again, just a promotion list, it looked as if the world wasn't going to end today after all.  She didn't know whether to be disappointed or satisfied.
Just a peek into the mind of RCN communications guru AN/UYK-3 (aka Dash 3). Someone's got a case of the Mondays :icondeathstareplz:

I never-- I mean, like not EVER-- thought I'd see Bunker-Ramo-tan, much less a mini-fanfic about a Bunker-Ramo-tan. Then again, you seem to have a knack for taking [OS-tan] things that I never thought I'd see happen and making them happen.

It's an interesting little glimpse into her head. ^^

Neither did I, there wasn't anything to be found most places I look, and no real groundwork to build off of per-say except for a mention in one of the DEC-tan's bio. But, here she is nonetheless, mainly because I like her :D

All she needs is a nap and or the open ocean and she'll feel better :smoking:.

You mean, that other Bunker-Ramo OS-tan who happens to be RSX11-tan's mum? (I forgot her name, shame on me).

There are a lot of military OS-tans coming out of the woodwork, methinks I'm going to have to do some WWII era-style pinup art... for the lulz.

Naps and the open ocean are the cures to all life's ills.

That's the one. (It isn't in the article, only named as a Bunker-Ramo-tan.

Oh my. Can't say I discourage this course of action however...

Don't forget bacon.

She was mentioned in the Old IBM-tans thread-- she's RW-300-tan.

Then it's settled! BUIC-tan for the Air Force pinup, maybe EDVAC-tan for the Army, and Whirlwind-hime (?!?!) for the Navy. And maybe CTOS-tan (she hasn't been drawn yet, BTW) for the Coast Guard.

Yeah, except that'll occasionally KILL.

Score. To the Colonel Cave!

Oh my, BUIC :iconfarnsworthplz: Well let's see, I think Whirlwind-hime is the only female Navy related -tan. EDVAC-tan's going to have a busy couple of drawings. Ahh CTOS-tan! *hugs* No disrespect to any of the other ladies, but the Coast Guard is my favorite service...

I don't care!

It'll give me a good excuse to draw BUIC-chan again (and posed on the wing of a plane or something, lol). That's what I thought. Yep, and I haven't even posted by concept drawing for her yet. >.>

Always though the Coast Guard was sort of like... the ocean police or the domestic Navy or something... :o

My body can't handle rich food like that. :ohnoes:

Which is good. You'll get around to it I'm sure.

Well, the Coast Guard has a complicated mission, being essentially created out of three separate government departments (Revenue Cutter Service, US Lighthouse Service, and US Lifesaving Service)

Your loss.
