National Geographic 1960-1966

I collect National Geographics, there are literally tons around my places of residence. These are four of my favorites.

Top Left:May 1960
Artists Roam the World of the US Air Force
The first National Geographic I ever read, in 5th Grade. Got me hooked on the 60\'s era style of NG. Needless to say it took me almost a decade to find a copy of my own, but here it is.

Top Right: September 1965
United States Air Force, Power for Peace
One that took significantly less time to find from initial sighting to acquisition. About 18 hours as a matter of fact. Great pictures of pre-Vietnam War airpower, including a color illustration spread of all serving aircraft. The county library was giving away +/- 100 NGs stacked outside the door. Good times

From the same lot as above, great map of the Northeast Corridor and probably the issue with the most different articles that I wanted to read.

Water War in Viet Nam, Dicky Chapelle Killed in Action
I have a book called Brown Water, Black Berets about the US Navy\'s gunboat war in Vietnam. One of the first chapters focusing on the early stages dedicates a lot of time to the writing of these articles. Good book, highly recommended. Its hard to really explain who Dicky Chapelle was, but I\'ll settle for wiki [link]
