For one thing, hugs have never been a specialty of mine.  They always seemed to me as one of the most awkward physical gestures invented by mankind.  I make exceptions for certain cases, you know, people I actually like.  Jeanie, Jeanie however fervently embraces (literally) most expressions of joy.  Its infectious.  Another maneuver I learned as a young girl was how to quickly take her, because when she gets moving its hard for anyone to keep up.

'Gina! We made it!' Sara was about pulled over. 'Jeanie!' but I leaned in quickly, grinning like a fool, to take her in my own arms.  It seems she'd built up a bit of mometum, and the LIRR didn't build their platforms for comfort.  One benefit of of having chosen to wear a dress was the cushion it provided.  And my body was between Jeanie and the concrete.  Her face was right in front of mine, practically glasses to glasses. 'Guess what I got for Christmas Gina!'

'Um' I had to think, hoping it wasn't something I got her 'Books?' was my best guess.  She hugged my neck 'Yes! Nancy Drews!' What did you get?'  I sort of cleared my throat, this wasn't much to talk about 'Well, I got a fruit basket. Um, and another fruit basket!'  Wow, that even sounds pitiful in retrospect. She was quick to console me.  Letting go for the first time, she sat upright on my chest 'Don't worry, we brought you better gifts then that.'

I giggled 'Promise?'  Jeanie climbed off me, and I finally sat up 'Promise' Sara was extending a hand to me.  It looked like Jeanie had taken quite a bit out of her.  Taking her hand, I sort of staggered upright.  'How was the trip?' I asked, already knowing the answer.  She gave me that look, 'Long.  Worth it, but long'.  I gave her my best half hug before Randy and her exchanged greetings.  They weren't going to be able to stay unfortunately, but the important part was they were here.

I tried to shoo everyone towards the car, 'Okay, we can talk in the cah.  The food's getting cold!'  Sara stopped, ten feet short of the car.  Everyone else stopped, and a few steps later I did when I felt Jeanie stop.  'What? What?' I looked back in forth in surprise.  Everyone was staring at me with what I suppose could be described as "panic", Sarah broke the silence 'You made Christmas dinner?'.  Squinting back at her, I got her intent I considered my replies 'Yes, I did and it is lovely.  Come on, Randy you're driving!'  Tossing him the keys, everyone started moving again

'Gina?' I looked down at Jeanie, she looked concerned.  Thats better then any sort of nonlethal weaponry the military has these days, I brightened my mouth into a smile 'Yeah Jeanie, what's the matter'  She chewed on her lip, she wasn't usually this recalcitrant 'You can cook right? I mean better then before?'

'Good question' Randy chimed in from the driver side door.  Is it that hard to believe  I have some normal skills?  Sure what I used to do could only be loosely called 'Cooking', but it wasn't that bad.

With a sigh I nodded my head 'Yesss, I found a box of cookbooks in the basement, so I made some things.  You won't be disappointed'  Sarah laughed, Jeanie smiled.  'Alright Gina, if you say so. '  Sarah yanked open the heavy door and took her seat.  But there was still more on Jeanie's mind.  'Presents or food first?' I looked down, considering the choice as we sat down in the back seat.  I hadn't really thought about it that hard, which one should go first.  Nodding suddenly, I turned to Jeanie 'Presents.  Definitely presents.'
Look, I didn't make it for Christmas but here's the first update for 2010. As it looks now, part six will be the grand finale. More GENIAC-chan & SAGE-sama for everyone. Now its off to watch Adam-12 and Haruhi Suzumiya 'til I pass out!

AHEM, it would seem dA decided to press the "send" button for me.

As I was saying...

Did SAGE just say "cah"?! My GAWD, she really is a New Englander.

I hope SAGE defies expectations by cooking a delicious meal. I have faith in her!
